Traumatic Brain Injury FAQ's

Q: How do brain injuries affect their victims?

A: Brain injuries could affect nearly any part of human functions without limitation. It can affect who you are as a person and individual and how others perceive you to be. Traumatic brain injury victims have reported trouble with movement and balance; thinking and cognitive functions; the senses; memory; speech and language; emotional control; and even personality changes. Which symptoms affect a patient depends on the physical location of the patient's injuries. Not all patients will have the same problems or present with the same symptoms. And, tragically, some brain injury victims suffer profound changes to personality which in turn affects relationships with family members and others. This has led to divorce, bankruptcy, inability to work, deep depression and others too numerous to mention. And, tragically, the lives of many brain injury victims are forever changed and altered in result as well as suffering changes in relationships with others, including family members. However, on a positive note, there are also others that recover nicely and even some recover quite miraculously but not always.
