Traumatic Brain Injury FAQ's
Q: What are the most common causes of TBI or traumatic brain injuries?
A: According to federal statistics, the most common causes of traumatic brain injuries are by far motor vehicle accidents (including motorcycle, bicycles, scooters, mopeds and pedestrians), as well as fall downs, being struck by an object, violent crimes, sports injuries and even "shaken-baby" injuries. One point four million (1.4M) Americans suffer a traumatic brain injury, or TBI, every year, and an estimated five point three million (5.3M) are living with disabilities as a result of brain injuries. These figures do not include soldiers returning from overseas. Needless to say, many soldiers, God Bless them, suffer from mild to significant TBI injuries from combat related incidents.
