As our client was operating his motorcycle, another motorcycle came around the corner and clipped our client’s lower extremity, which later had to be amputated.
Typically, negligence is the root cause of motorcycle accidents. Knowing this as a fellow avid motorcycle driver, Randall Sevenish launched into an in-depth investigation of the accident to determine how it happened and who’s negligent actions caused the collision. He collected compelling evidence supporting his argument that the other motorcycle operator breached their duty of care when operating their vehicle and that this violation caused the accident that caused our client’s injuries.
Mr. Sevenish also gathered all the medical records related to our client’s injuries, as well as his treatment and prognosis. All this evidence factored into the demand letter we presented to the negligent motorist’s insurance company.
For this demand letter, Mr. Sevenish set his sights on getting the maximum possible compensation for his client. The client’s loss of his lower extremity not only generated high medical bills but also required ongoing physical therapy. Mr. Sevenish also applied complex economic formulas to arrive at the value of diminished future potential earnings and other financial losses his client would experience over the course of his life, due to his injury. Upon completing his calculations for recoverable damages, Mr. Sevenish sent the demand letter to the other motorcycle operator’s insurance company.

Mr. Sevenish was able to work out a settlement for our client’s damages with the negligent motorist’s liability company without the necessity of a lawsuit. It turned out that the negligent motorcycle operator was underinsured, as far as covering our client’s losses, so Mr. Sevenish also filed an underinsured claim with his own insurance company. This type of policy covers injuries arising from an accident caused by a negligent party who has insufficient insurance coverage.
Our firm dug even further to find that our client also had underinsurance as part of his homeowner’s insurance policy (an Umbrella Policy), and so Mr. Sevenish filed a claim with that insurer, too, on behalf of our client.
Altogether, our client was able to collect a seven-figure amount in these settlements, including futures. Although no settlement could compensate our client for the loss of a limb, we feel satisfied knowing that he is now able to pay his medical and other bills, as well as make plans for a fulfilling life.
